Long Island City, located across the East River from Midtown Manhattan, has emerged as one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in New York City. Historically an industrial district, LIC has seen a number of changes of late that have redefined the neighborhood as a destination for the arts, businesses, and residents. A neighborhood as diverse as New York City itself, LIC has become an exciting place to work, live, eat, and play.
Recently rezoned as part of New York City's 4th Central Business District, the Queens Plaza and Court Square areas of LIC are experiencing some extraordinary change. LIC is quickly becoming a major commercial center, and the neighborhood's future is bright.
The Long Island City Business Improvement District (LICBID), a not-for-profit organization, is dedicated to supporting businesses and property owners in the commercial core of the neighborhood. The LICBID provides supplementary sanitation and security services to the District, as well as marketing initiatives, and community development programs. The BID is a public / private partnership run by the neighborhood for the neighborhood, and is eager to assist any business that calls Long Island City home.
